Abstract
The recovery of process of. brain damage caused by an acute ¢¥severe cerebral .hypoxia has , been reported in various literatures. And. the. possibility of- complete recovery of such case was said: to be good in younger age group than in adult¢¥s group.
We experienced a case of cardiac arrest of a 5 months old boy during halothane anesthesia induction and the, cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation was succeeded promptly. The condition of patient after the resuscitation was good. The proposed_ manual reduction of intersusception performed. The recovery of patient was carefully observed in our recovery room.
In 1964, Shillingford described the cause of acute cardiac arrest during generar anesthesia as follows:
1. Hypoxia.
2. Excess of CO,
3. Anesthesia overdose, surgical shock and hypotention.
4. Miscellaneous factors: cerebrovascular accidents, metabolic acidosis, hypoglycemia, uremia, hemorrhage, cerebral thrombosis and electrolyte unbalance.
In this case, we believed that hypoxia and CO2 retention was responsible.
